JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau ACB ) has recovered a diary with details of transitions from the possession of Sumant Singh, arrested along with a Jhotwara police constable in a bribery case.The sources in ACB said that the sleuths also discovered several slips bearing names “ACP” which hints at the involvement of Jhotwara ACP Ash Mohammad, who has been evading arrest in the case.The sources told TOI that one of the pages in the diary contains a letter laying out a plan to trap a complainant in order to extort more money from him. The Rajasthan ACB told TOI that Jhotwara ACP Ash Mohammad and SHO Pradeep Charan have been on the run.“Charan has been suspended while we have asked the Rajasthan police to take action against the ACP for his role in the bribery case,” an official informed TOI.The ACB said that both the SHO and the ACP have been on the run ever since the sleuths arrested Jhotwara constable Battu Khan while receiving a bribe with middleman Sumant Singh on Wednesday late night.“ACP’s family members said they are not aware of his location. We wanted to question him in the bribery case as his involvement has been established,” an official said.“If the accused constable Battu Khan has taken a bribe of Rs 3 lakh in the past through his middleman Sumant Singh, there is a clear role of his seniors including Pradeep Charan, the SHO and Aas Mohammad assistant commissioner of police, Jhotwara. If they have no role in it why they evaded a fair interrogation when summoned by our men,” said Saurabh Srivastav, additional director general (ADG), ACB while talking to TOI.“The ACP Aas Mohammed first met the complaint and he actually told him to meet Battu Khan, the constable. After the meeting money to be paid was decided. So, Mohammad in the case is the key conspirator, the beneficiary and the facilitator,” said a senior officer.
