Rajasthan: 29 lakh farmers apply for PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme

"Forms of 29 lakh farmers have been received on the state cooperative department's portal. Around 1.15 forms have already been uploaded on the website of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme . Of the total, 25 lakh forms have already been sent to the Collectors for verification," said Neeraj K. Pawan , registrar, cooperative department. JAIPUR: As against over 21 lakh names already uploaded on the farm loan waiver portal , which was announced by the Ashok Gehlot government, so far 29 lakh farmers in the state have already applied for the centre's Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi PM-KISAN ) scheme, under which each farmer will be entitled to Rs. 6,000 per year as the minimum income support.PM-KISAN is an initiative by the government of India under which small and marginal farmers who have less than 2 hectares of landholding will get up to Rs 6,000 per year as minimum income support. The amount will be paid to each eligible farmer in three instalments (Rs. 2000 each) and will be deposited directly to their bank accounts."Forms of 29 lakh farmers have been received on the state cooperative department's portal. Around 1.15 forms have already been uploaded on the website of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme . Taking lessons from the reported complaints from some states, we will implement it after proper verification. After the verification process is completed, we will generate funds transfer order (FTO), i.e release of the first installment of Rs. 2000. We may receive the verification reports from the collectors by today evening (Saturday)," he added.The scheme was announced by union minister Piyush Goyal during the 2019 interim union budget on February 1. It will cost the government Rs. 75,000 crore per annum and will come in effect from December 2018.However, Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot had attacked and accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of trying to woo the farmers for votes by announcing the scheme at the fag end of his tenure. He had also said that the scheme would not help Modi win the Lok Sabha elections.Gehlot also reminded Modi that the state government was giving higher pension to the farmers. The Rajasthan government had announced to provide a monthly pension of Rs 750 to small farmers up to 75 years of age and Rs 1000 to those above 75.Meanwhile, out of 24 lakh eligible farmers for loan waiver, about 15.5 lakh famers have been issued waiver certificates involving Rs 7,000 crore.
