Jaipur: Three people were detained for beating a 24-year-old Hetram Meghwal to death on Saturday night. The victim was reportedly called to the house of one of the accused and attacked by six to seven persons, of which three have been identified and detained. They are being questioned by the police and the officials stated that the accused and Meghwal had some personal dispute.Tejwant Singh, SHO, Dudhwa Khara where the complaint was initially registered said, “There were 6-7 people who beat up the youth brutally after calling him to one of their homes. His post-mortem was done on Sunday at the government hospital. We are still investigating the case.”Since Meghwal was from a minority community, the case has been registered under the SC/ST Act, 1989 for prevention of atrocities against them. We are investigating all possible angles in the matter,” added the SHO.Shukvendra Pal Singh, circle officer, Churu, in-charge of the investigation added, “Till now we have detained three individuals for questioning. Although no arrests have been made yet, the probe is on.” Three of the accused have been identified as Suraj Bhan, Bhanwar Singh and Prem Singh. This is the second incident in a matter of just over a week that a Dalit man has been killed. On March 2, charred body of 60-year-old Gangaram Balai was found tied to a tree in Bhilwara. The motive behind his death is yet to be confirmed by the police.
