Study on linking Ayushman Bhamashah to be held in Tonk

Jaipur: A study will be conducted in Tonk as a pilot project for launching Ayushman Bharat, by interlinking it with the existing Bhamashah Health Insurance Scheme (BHIS).Ayushman Bharat, health insurance programme launched by the Centre, has not been implemented yet in the state, as state’s BHIS has already been implemented. However, the state government is now planning to expand coverage of health insurance by linking the two schemes to give benefit to more families.Chief secretary D B Gupta, who attended a programme organised by Pediatric Oncology division of J K Lon Hospital on Tuesday, told newspersons that the state government’s intention is to link together, the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat insurance scheme and the state government’s existing Bhamashah Health Insurance Scheme, so that more and more patients will get the benefit of the schemes. For the purpose, a study on it will be conducted on pilot project basis, in Tonk district.Gupta said that recently, chief executive officer of Ayushman Bharat had come to Rajasthan. During his visit to Rajasthan, a detailed discussion was held on the issue. During the study in Tonk, it will be ascertained that how many number of beneficiaries will be increased if the two insurance schemes are linked together. For that purpose, Tonk district has been identified. Gupta said that it is expected that if the two schemes are combined together, the number of beneficiary families will be increased to 1.2 crore. It means that majority of the families will come under insurance scheme.The government, though, is yet to decide the fate of Bhamashah health insurance scheme launched by the previous Raje government, at a time when the Centre had implemented Ayushman Bharat insurance scheme. Rajasthan is yet to get benefits of the Centre's scheme. However, as the state government is taking measures by launching a pilot project, it is expected that the state government is taking efforts to link the two schemes and will continue BHIS.Function for cancer surviving children held in city:Pediatric Oncology division of J K Lon Hospital organised a function for children, who are cancer survivors, in academic block of SMS Medical College on Tuesday. The function was attended by 400 cancer suvivors and their parents. Chief secretary D B Gupta was the chief guest and Dr Sudhir Bhandari, principal, SMS Medical College, was the special guest. Dr Ashok Gupta, superintendent, J K Lon Hospital, said that they were children who fought against cancer and emerged winners. J K Lon Hospital felicitated cancer survivors who had taken treatment at the centre.
