In north India, there are a large number of educated unemployed and even underemployed. The Congress leaders have not seen poverty, that’s why they don't understand the problem of unemployment.” Congress has cheated the youth by not providing employment allowance to all. The issue is two-fold, one is underemployment and the other is unemployment. Both have reached new high since Modiji came to power. It’s been just two months since we have come.”But the BJP government is not subscribing to the charges levelled by the Congress party.

JAIPUR: At a time when the Congress president Rahul Gandhi has been relentlessly attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for having failed to create 2 crore jobs a year, the National Career Service (NCS) data of the ministry of labour and employment shows that Jaipur has the highest number of unemployed persons in the state, nearly 60,000. According to the data, the total number of registered job seekers in the state are 6.89 lakh (up to Feb, 2019) with just 27,535 job vacancies available which is just 3.99% of the total job seekers.Unemployment and the Modi government’s failure to create jobs for the unemployed youth is one of the central poll issues that the Congress party has raised ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Rajasthan deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot had also accused the previous Vasundhara Raje government of cheating the youth as her government failed to create 15 lakh jobs in the state as promised.Meanwhile, in a bid to tap the unemployed youth, Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot raised the unemployment allowance for the youth of the state to Rs 3,500 for girls and Rs 3000 for boys, as promised in the party’s manifesto. Not to be left behind in trying to attract the youth, BJP had also promised unemployment allowance up to Rs 5,000 in their manifesto ahead of the assembly elections in the state. The total number of voters in the age group 18-19 is 12.82 lakh in Rajasthan.According to the NCS data, there are 6.03 lakh registered unemployed persons in the state with Jaipur district having the highest number of them at 58,893. The district also shows an interesting trend of very few people registering themselves in the year 2015-16, with the numbers picking up phenomenally in the successive years. With 3188, Jaisalmer has the lowest number of unemployed persons registered with the NCS.Blaming the Modi government for the highest rate of unemployment in the country Pilot on Sunday told TOI said, “It is a monumental failure of the NDA-BJP government having failed to create jobs. In north India, there are a large number of educated unemployed and even underemployed. The issue is two-fold, one is underemployment and the other is unemployment. Both have reached new high since Modiji came to power. For Rajasthan, we have a lot of policies in mind. But, ultimately job creation takes time. It’s been just two months since we have come.”But the BJP government is not subscribing to the charges levelled by the Congress party. Speaking to TOI, state BJP president Madan Lal Saini said, “When we were in power in the state, we created a lot of employment opportunities in the agriculture sector, dairy and animal husbandry. Lakhs of farmers got employment through cultivation of a cash crops like olive oil and dates. Job opportunities were generated in transport sector. Congress has cheated the youth by not providing employment allowance to all. The Congress leaders have not seen poverty, that’s why they don't understand the problem of unemployment.”
