Cancer patient jumps off flyover, dies

JAIPUR: A 47-year-old man battling prolonged illness committed suicide by jumping off the Sanganer flyover on Wednesday morning. The Sanganer police said that Kumar had been battling cancer for a long time.“On Wednesday morning he left his house at about 10am and walked up till Sanganer flyover. Madan Kumar, a resident of Tonk Road was rushed to the SMS hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. While the treatment was still on, he was feeling dejected for some reason,” an official said.The traffic on Sanganer flyover and Tonk Road had come to a halt due to the incident. “Relatives told us that he had been battling cancer and undergoing treatment for the illness.

Madan Kumar, a resident of Tonk Road was rushed to the SMS hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The Sanganer police said that Kumar had been battling cancer for a long time.“On Wednesday morning he left his house at about 10am and walked up till Sanganer flyover. Before passersby could sense anything, Kumar jumped and crashed on the road below,” said SHO Lakhan Singh Khatana, adding that he was rushed to the SMS hospital where he died a few hours later due to multiple injuries.The police told TOI that he had sustained injuries on the head, back and other parts of the body. “Relatives told us that he had been battling cancer and undergoing treatment for the illness. Amid Holi festivities he left his house and took the fatal jump,” Khatana said.The police said that there was a loud thud in the area due to which local shopkeepers rushed to the spot and found Madan Kumar semi-conscious after which an ambulance was called. “We spoke to his family and they said that he left the house without telling anyone. He was on medication ever since he was diagnosed with advanced cancer some time back. While the treatment was still on, he was feeling dejected for some reason,” an official said.The traffic on Sanganer flyover and Tonk Road had come to a halt due to the incident. Kumar’s relatives told cops that he had become despondent due to the prolonged illness and his growling frailty because of which he decided to end his life.
