Jaipur-bound AI flyer gets off at Jodhpur, creates panic, delays flight

When they checked, one passenger, who was supposed to fly to Jaipur, was found missing. The airline asked the passenger to come back as he did not have a ticket for Jodhpur, but the man refused to show up. Of these, 75 passengers got off at Jodhpur as per their scheduled destination.As the plane prepared to take off for Jaipur, its next destination, the in-flight staff found the flight was below capacity. When thestaff contacted the passenger on his phone, he turned out to be a resident of Jodhpur and admitted to have got off at Jodhpur instead of Jaipur citing sudden worsening of health of his father. Confirming the incident, airport director G K Khare said boarding pass has to be checked during the transit but in this case it was missed by AI staff and the passenger got out of the airport without being checked.

JODHPUR: In a major goof up, a Jaipur-bound passenger on a Mumbai-Delhi flight of Air India managed to get off at Jodhpur without informing the airline staff.The passenger's misadventure delayed the flight by 45 minutes, as the carrier's management had to not only search for the passenger but also offload the remaining passengers and board them again after checking tickets afresh.The security lapse triggered a panic search for the missing passenger, who was later traced out at his home in Jodhpur.AI authorities could not be reached for a comment despite repeated attempts by TOI.But sources said the Mumbai-Delhi AI flight arrived at the Jodhpur airport on time on Tuesday morning with 150 passengers onboard.
