The programme is being organized jointly by JKK and the North Zone Cultural Centre picture credit: Shalini Maheshwari The art and culture lovers of Jaipur were in for a treat this evening as they enjoyed a melange of unique folk dances from the North Eastern States of India on the second day of ‘Octave 2019’. The 5-day event is being held at Jawahar Kala Kendra The performances included various dances like – an old war dance from the state of Meghalaya – ‘Ka-Shad-Mastieh’ – performed by the male dancers to honour the forefathers; ‘Rikham Pada’ from Arunachal Pradesh – performed on songs that are love ballads sung by women to please their husbands; ‘Tamang Selo’ – a Sikkimese folk dance that reflects the lifestyle of the hill people were among the few dances.The audience was mesmerized by the extraordinary aura of North East at the programme with their folk music, striking choreography and colourful costumes.
