JAIPUR: The menace of bike-borne snatchers has returned to haunt the city. Three cases of chain and purse snatching from different locations were reported on Monday.The first incident was reported when a woman was passing through NRI Circle area when two youths on a bike with their faces covered with masks pushed her and quickly snatched her purse. The Pratap Nagar police are investigation the case even as the accused remained at large.In a similar incident, an elderly woman who was walking home with his son in Murlipura became the second target of the gang. The accused snatched gold chain and fled from the spot. The police set-up checks points but in vain.The third incident was reported near Vidhyadhar Nagar where a woman returning from a local vegetable market was pushed by the two youths on a bike. Before she could retrieve the veggies that fell of her hands, the accused snatched her gold chain and decamped.The woman should for help but the accused had vanished into nearby lanes. The police have registered FIRs in the snatching case but no clue could be found. On March 9 too, a spate of chain snatching had led to the police setting-up barricades across the city.As many as eight chain snatchings were reported that day, raising questions about the security arrangements in the capital. The police officials informed TOI that they are scanning CCTVs of the multiple localities to identify the accused.“Most of these bikes are stolen from different places and their registration plates are forged to evade the police’s suspicion,” an official informed TOI.
