Pupil suicide No headway as cops await med report

Jaipur: In the case of alleged suicide by a 13-year-old in Dungarpur earlier this week, the local police have not made any headway so far and claim that the girl’s parents were not cooperating. Initially they claimed that their daughter was allegedly raped but on being asked if they suspect anyone, they refused to give any names. Now we are awaiting the medical reports to ascertain if there is any truth behind the parents’ claim about the alleged rape.”The girl’s family belongs to the tribal community.

Jaipur: In the case of alleged suicide by a 13-year-old in Dungarpur earlier this week, the local police have not made any headway so far and claim that the girl’s parents were not cooperating. The girl’s family had alleged that she was raped due to which she committed suicide. The police said that the parents were not identifying any accused. The police have to wait for the girl’s medical report, which is leading to delay in investigation.On March 25, a teenage girl studying in Class VII committed suicide in Ramsagda area of Dungarpur district. Following the suicide, the girl’s family alleged that she was allegedly was raped on March 23 due to which she took her own life. They had claimed that the minor was allegedly raped when she took the cattle out for grazing.Pareshwar Patidar, sub-inspector, Ramsagda police station said, “The family is changing its statements which is hindering the investigation. Initially they claimed that their daughter was allegedly raped but on being asked if they suspect anyone, they refused to give any names. Later they said that they were not sure about the assault and had heard from somewhere that the girl was sexually assaulted when she took the cattle out for grazing. Now we are awaiting the medical reports to ascertain if there is any truth behind the parents’ claim about the alleged rape.”The girl’s family belongs to the tribal community. Police officials said the family did not notice anything outward in her behaviour. A case was registered under CrPC section 174 (unnatural death).On being asked if they suspect any family member’s involvement in the suicide, Patidar added, “Till now, nothing has come to light to indicate if the parents or any other family member instigated the girl to commit suicide and the reason behind her taking her own life is still unclear. We are still investigating her death and the claims of her parents regarding the alleged rape.”
