Surprise inspection of Jyoti Nagar police station held by DGP

Jaipur: Rajasthan DGP Kapil Garg on Sunday conducted a surprise inspection of the city’s Jyoti Nagar police station, during which he pointed out multiple shortcomings including laxity in proper record-keeping.Garg visited the police station at about 3pm. Ultimately, a police station is the main unit to drive the reforms and orders issued from the PHQ,” he said.The Jyoti Nagar police station is located only a few miles away from the Police Headquarters (PHQ). “I pointed out some of the clear drawbacks which I came to observe during the inspection. The commissioner has promised that the shortcomings will be fixed across all police stations,” Garg said, adding that he may give an unnoticed visit to another police station very soon.“The main aim was to check if initiatives we recently undertook some months ago, reflect on the ground or not. He was soon accompanied by commissioner of Jaipur police, Anand Shrivastava, additional commissioner Laxman Gaur, DCP (South) Yogesh Dhadich and other senior officials of city police.The DGP sat at the SHO’s cabin for over an hour and summoned record books, including ‘Rojnamcha' (daily police diary), records of the FIR etc.

Garg had recently introduced many initiatives including conducting decoy operations to check if the FIRs were registered, and whether standard operating procedure (SOP) were followed or not.Garg had recently inspected police stations of Jodhpur, Bikaner and Churu, where he checked the record books, case files, pendency records, duty officer’s (DO) conduct and overall operational preparedness of the team.
