Tigress T-73 gives birth to three cubs at Ranthambore Tiger Reserve

A Ranthambore tigress, more popularly known as T-73 has given birth to three cubs. The three cubs were first spotted last Sunday with their mother when they were captured on CCTVs installed for tiger surveillance in a no-tourism zone of the Ranthambore tiger reserve in Sawaimadhopur district. Few days back we had received information that there were new cubs in the reserve but could not authenticate it. According to Ranthambore Field Director YK Sahu, the total number of tigers at Ranthambore has gone up to 69.

The cubs were with their mother. We have stepped up security and surveillance in the area,” said a senior forest department officer. Rajasthan: Tigress T-73 has given birth to three cubs at the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve. pic.twitter.com/7NwgdRH5Lw — ANI (@ANI) June 25, 2019 The second birth FOR T-73 who is also the daughter of T-17, Sundari, the birth of the three cubs came as a big relief to Rajasthan wildlife department which was facing major criticisms for the death of a tiger in Sariska national park due to the alleged overdose of tranquilizing agents. ‘This is good news for the tiger population in RNP. Few days back we had received information that there were new cubs in the reserve but could not authenticate it. Few pugmarks were seen but it was not certain if they were of they were new cubs’’ Mukesh Saini divisional forest officer (DFO), RNP said. According to Ranthambore Field Director YK Sahu, the total number of tigers at Ranthambore has gone up to 69. Of them, 25 are tigresses, 25 are tigers and 19 are cubs. Authorities have now taken safety measures in the area where the litter of cubs were spotted.
