Heavy rainfall exposes civic authorities drainage management claims

In its forecast, Jaipur Met office said that moderate to heavy showers are expected to continue on Tuesday and Wednesday across the city.  

The capital city, Jaipur on Monday woke up with both good and bad news. After a long haul, Pink city received heavy rainfall bringing the joyfulness into the environment but this rainfall also lead to waterlogging in different parts of the city, exposing lofty claims made by civic authorities on their drainage management.

It was first time after monsoon reached the state that 70 mm rain was recorded in the city. In this season so far, Jaipur had never witnessed rainfall above 10 mm.

Waterlogging was witnessed in amny low lying areas such as Jhotwara, Khatipura, Sikar Road. Waterlogging was also witnessed around Statue Circle, Teen Moorti Circle, Tonk Road and some parts of Ajmer road in the city. Many people who were commuting from one part to the other on the occasion of Rakshabandhan got struck due to rainfall.
