Net banned in Udaipur after 'abusive' post on Facebook

We have also identified various IP addresses which may create trouble and our technical surveillance team will also keep a tab on activities on the social networking sites," he added. Even, the parents of the accused boys scolded them at the police station when the police shown them what they had posted on the social networking sites. According to police, some people had posted a comment that was abusive and against a particular religion.

JAIPUR: Tension prevailed in Udaipur and nearby areas for the past few days when some people through their posts on social networking sites attempted to hurt religious sentiments of a community In order to plug it and avoid the things to go haywire, the Udaipur police have banned the internet on Tuesday that continued on Wednesday. Police have also arrested two persons in this connection after cases were registered against them at Fatehnagar and Haathipol police stations. According to police, some people had posted a comment that was abusive and against a particular religion. In response, people started being abusive and anti against each other's religion on social networking site Facebook."After the matter came to us, our technical surveillance teams traced the IP addresses from which these posts were sent. After initial block of the particular post in which the revered deities were abused, the accused were identified and arrested. A case under appropriate Sections of IPC has also been lodged against them," said Anand Srivastav , inspector general of police, Udaipur Range told TOI over phone from Udaipur on Wednesday. Even, the parents of the accused boys scolded them at the police station when the police shown them what they had posted on the social networking sites. "There is no objection of their arrests from anywhere. Even their families scolded them," Srivastav added.Srivastav said, in order to ensure no more verbal clashes on networking sites take place and to curb the rumours and maintain law and order the internet was banned. " We have also identified various IP addresses which may create trouble and our technical surveillance team will also keep a tab on activities on the social networking sites," he added.
