Jodhpur: After bail, Congress leader gets rousing welcome

Four accused, absconding since long, succeeded in getting anticipatory bail from the high court, which included Solanki, the then director (technical) K K Mathur and two engineers. So far, nine persons have been arrested in the matter by the ACB, including engineers, officials and private persons. But Solanki, apprehending arrest, escaped and remained absconding for about four months. He had termed the alleged irregularities as not intentional but procedural.ACB had registered four different cases against him starting from May last year and had summoned him for interrogation. JODHPUR: Absconding Congress leader and former chairman of Jodhpur Development Authority (JDA) Rajendra Singh Solanki received a resounding welcome when he appeared at his home on Saturday after anticipatory bail by the high court on Friday.A huge crowd of party workers and his near ones converged at his residence at Balsamand area , the moment the news of his arriving home went public on Friday morning. Shouting slogans favouring him and garlanding this confidante of former chief minister Ashok Gehlot, the crowd extended a welcome, he never got even when he was appointed as the chairman of JDA in 2012.Solanki has been facing investigation by the ACB in relation to alleged irregularities in granting administrative and financial sanctions to various developmental works in the city ahead of the state assembly election in 2013.Later, while talking to media, Solanki alleged that there was nothing which could be termed as irregularity in the work sanctioned by JDA and that he was being set up by the ACB for being close aide of Gehlot. "The ACB has been functioning under the pressure of the government and absolute partiality being exercised by the agency in its investigation," said Solanki adding that he has complete trust in the judicial system.It may be recalled that Gehlot himself has termed Solanki innocent claiming that he was being framed for no fault.
