Now, tourists can get info on Barmer through app

Jaisalmer: Tourists visiting Barmer can rejoice as all the information on places of interest will now be available to them through a newly launched app. Barmer district administration on Saturday launched the app which will be linked to IOT devices installed at various tourist spots. Moreover, he said that a letter had been written to the state government to provide financial resources to start Thar Festival. There is facility of translation into 12 languages, in written as well as audio form.Sharma said that a proposal has been sent to the Centre to provide relaxation to tourists in prohibited areas of Barmer district. In the first phase, internet of things (IOT) devices have been installed at 15 important places.

In the first phase, internet of things (IOT) devices have been installed at 15 important places. Meanwhile, another significant service launched on Saturday was that on entering Rajasthan border people will get a welcome message from chief minister Vasundhara Raje on their mobile phones.Barmer collector Sudhir Sharma said that the new initiative has been started to encourage tourism. This app can be downloaded from Google Playstore. It is being run under the directions of district collector with the help of tourism department and sponsored by Cairn India.The IOT devices have been installed at Kiradu, Junapatrasar, Veeratara, Neembadi Mata Temple, Jasder Dham, Jagdambagarh Temple, Cairn Enterprise Centre, Sun Temple at Devka, Khed Temple, Rani Bhatiyani Temple, Nakoda, Siwana Fort. The devices will work within 100 metres of the spot and tourists will get automatic notifications about these spots on their mobile phones through the app.The app will also provide timings of opening and pooja at major temples.IT department deputy director Devendra Mathur and Lejgo company representative Ravi Pratap Singh set up the devices at 15 tourist spots on Saturday.According to company representative Parag Prasad, the app can be downloaded free of cost from Google Playstore.Apart from tourist places, the app will give info on hotels, restaurants, money exchange centres, toilets, tourist guide, tourist centre, coffee house, bazaars, police station, etc.If any tourist runs into trouble, he can use the SOS feature which will provide numbers of nearby police stations, district collector, SP officer emergency number, hospital and embassy number of their country. There is facility of translation into 12 languages, in written as well as audio form.Sharma said that a proposal has been sent to the Centre to provide relaxation to tourists in prohibited areas of Barmer district. Efforts were being made to set up war museum and heritage museum at the district headquarters. Moreover, he said that a letter had been written to the state government to provide financial resources to start Thar Festival.
