Dravyavati project: Meeting organised to discuss problems

Jaipur: There is a big question mark on timely completion of Dravyavati River Rejuvenation project. This has started worrying civic body and urban development and housing (UDH) minister and senior officials of civic bodies departments.On Tuesday, a meeting was called to resolve problems that are obstructing the pace of the project. The minister directed the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) official to organise camps and rehabilitate the affected house owners.A recent survey conducted by Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) revealed that 600 houses are hampering the widening work of the river. These houses fall in Civil Lines and Mansarovar zones.A JMC official informed TOI, "A survey was conducted in 2.75km stretch falling under the project. Nearly 75% of the houses on this stretch are expected to be demolished. Directions have been given to organise camps and get the consent letters filled by the affected house owners."According to sources, the JDA has identified three places to rehabilitate these affected owners. "We have identified houses in the Basic Service for the Poor (BSUP) scheme in Jaisinghpura, Bombay Quarters in Meena Paladi and Ananadlok at Sikar road."It is expected a meeting between the affected house owners and officials will be organised on June 30 at Sodala police station. The camps to rehabilitate these owners will be held on July 18.Chief minister Vasundra Raje has expressed her eagerness to showcase the river project before the voters just as her predecessor Ashok Gehlot had done with the Jaipur Metro. However, it's a major challenge to complete the project on stipulated deadline as so far only 20% work has been done after spending approximately Rs 300 crore.The state government awarded work to consortium of Tata Projects and Shanghai Urban Construction Group to develop the area by the riverside into a beautiful landscape. The firm is now working on a Rs 1,676 crore project to restore the river by August 15, 2018. An official said, "The levelling work in many areas is complete. The company has also started disposing the garbage and debris that was piled up in the river."
