Monsoon enters Rajasthan, to cover 70% state in next few days

A maximum temperature of 39 degrees Celsius was recorded in Jaipur. JAIPUR: The south west monsoon entered the state on Tuesday with a delay of a week. Arrival of monsoon was welcomed in the state as people got respite from prolonged scorching heat conditions and severe humidity. It arrived over Barmer and Chittorgarh districts and also in some portions of southern Rajasthan including Kota, Jhalawar and Baran . With the onset of monsoon in the state the city also witnessed moderate showers that started in the evening and continued till late on Tuesday.

JAIPUR: The south west monsoon entered the state on Tuesday with a delay of a week. It arrived over Barmer and Chittorgarh districts and also in some portions of southern Rajasthan including Kota, Jhalawar and Baran . Arrival of monsoon was welcomed in the state as people got respite from prolonged scorching heat conditions and severe humidity. It is going to cover 70 percent of the state in the next couple of days.Confirming the arrival of monsoon, Jaipur Met office said that monsoon has entered the state via Madhya Pradesh and has covered Chittorgarh and Barmer districts of the state.Dhorimana in Barmer received rainfall of 60 mm which was highest in the state and was followed by Semari (Udaipur) and Udaipur city where 50 mm of rainfall was recorded. Likewise, many places in Barmer, Jalore, Sirohi, Pali and Udaipur, a rainfall varying between 10 mm and 40 mm was recorded.Despite arrival of monsoon in some parts of the state many places were still reeling under scorching heat. Sriganganagar remained hottest in the state where a maximum temperature of 42.5 degrees Celsius was recorded and was followed by Jaisalmer where a maximum temperature of 42.3 degrees Celsius was recorded, Bikaner and Churu 41.5 degrees Celsius each, Pilani 40.2, Ajmer 38.4, Jodhpur 37.9, Kota 37.7, Barmer 36.7 and a maximum temperature of 32.4 degrees Celsius was recorded in Udaipur.Jaipurites woke up to a warm morning which was followed by cloudy afternoon. With the onset of monsoon in the state the city also witnessed moderate showers that started in the evening and continued till late on Tuesday. People thronged various places including Jal Mahal to enjoy the pleasant weather. A maximum temperature of 39 degrees Celsius was recorded in Jaipur.
