Now, Sikhs demand reservation

There was negligence in state government's examination due to which community is deprived of reservation. " 'Bhatra' community comes under Sikh religion. In Haryana , Punjab and National Capital Region (NCR), name 'Bhatra' and 'Bhat' prevails in the OBC category list. However, it's quota was abolished by the state government after confusion over name 'Bhatra' and 'Bhat' prevailed. Jagtaar Singh , one of the protester said , Bhatra' and 'Bhat' are same word , like 'Meena' and 'Mina'.

Jaipur: Fresh trouble is brewing for state government in Bharatpur as Bhatra Sikh community is on roads demanding reservation in Other Backward Classes (OBC) category.On Wednesday, hundreds of community members demonstrated infront of the Mini -secretariat and raised slogans against the BJP government. A delegation led by Nem Singh Faujdar also submitted memorandum to district collector, Narendra Kumar Gupta. Community leaders threaten to intensify the protest and demonstrate at Jantar Mantar in Delhi and Jaipur, if government fail to fulfil their demands.It was informed, the Bhatra community was earlier under the (OBC) category. However, it's quota was abolished by the state government after confusion over name 'Bhatra' and 'Bhat' prevailed. Jagtaar Singh , one of the protester said , Bhatra' and 'Bhat' are same word , like 'Meena' and 'Mina'. There was negligence in state government's examination due to which community is deprived of reservation. " In Haryana , Punjab and National Capital Region (NCR), name 'Bhatra' and 'Bhat' prevails in the OBC category list. 'Bhatra' community comes under Sikh religion. In the state notification both the names were mentioned. However, nearly two and half years ago 'Bhatra' was removed from the list. Due to which, community did not get it right."
