Workshop on inclusive education practices

Tribune News ServiceJalandhar, July 16A five-day workshop on ‘Inclusive education practices at regular schools’ commenced at Army Public School Jalandhar today. Simmi Dutta, zonal president, Vajra Army Wives’ Welfare Association, inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp. A total of 85 teachers from 39 Army Pre-Primary Schools and Army Public Schools of the Vajra Corps and major stations of the Western Command are attending the workshop. This is second phase of the workshop wherein, teachers will work on planning lessons and strategies for a group of students identified with learning difficulties. The event is being held under Project Asha Kiran, an AWWA initiative, that focuses on providing a common learning platform for children with special needs.

The resource persons for the workshop are Venella Rawada, an educationist, special educator and social activist, and Shailaja Rao, former HoD, National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped (NIMH), Hyderabad, a seasoned expert in educating persons, especially children with special needs.
