Tanzanian woman held with 2 kg of heroin in Kapurthala

Our CorrespondentPhagwara, September 15In a major success, a police party headed by Superintendent of Police Manpreet Dhillon arrested a Tanzanian (East Africa) woman, identified as Rehmapani, and recovered two kg of heroin from her possession near Deinwind bus stand in Kapurthala on Saturday late evening. He said when Narinderjit Singh saw ASI Paramjit Singh, the former managed to flee without meeting the accused drug smuggler. ASI Paramjit Singh said after alighting from an auto rickshaw she went towards her accomplice Narinderjit Singh, who was waiting in a car(PB-9AB-4970). But when Narinderjit Singh saw the police he immediately managed to flee without meeting the accused drug smuggler. The SSP said during preliminary interrogation the arrested accused woman confessed before the police that she was in drugs trade for the last several years and came to Punjab sixth time to deliver the drugs.

The price of the drug is around Rs 10 crore in the international market. Senior Superintendent of Police(SSP) Satinder Singh, while confirming the drug seizure, said the accused was presently staying with her relatives at Chattarpur in Delhi. He said that the accused had come to deliver the contraband to a person, whom she identified as Narinderjit Singh of Sultanpur Lodhi, at the bus stand. He said when Narinderjit Singh saw ASI Paramjit Singh, the former managed to flee without meeting the accused drug smuggler. ASI Paramjit Singh said after alighting from an auto rickshaw she went towards her accomplice Narinderjit Singh, who was waiting in a car(PB-9AB-4970). But when Narinderjit Singh saw the police he immediately managed to flee without meeting the accused drug smuggler. The police are conducting raids to nab Narinderjit. A case under Sections 29, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered. The SSP said during preliminary interrogation the arrested accused woman confessed before the police that she was in drugs trade for the last several years and came to Punjab sixth time to deliver the drugs. The SSP said Narinderjit’s father Charn Singh was sentenced 10-year jail in 2010 when he was arrested with 130 kg of puppy husk, while his brother Dharmender Singh was arrested with 260 gm of intoxicant powder and his another brother, Lakhbir Singh, is also facing several cases of crime.
