Protest against beverage factory enters Day 16

Our CorrespondentHoshiarpur, September 18Save Water Save Punjab Struggle Committee, with the support of an NGO ‘Safal Bharat Guru Parampra’, led by Veer Pratap Rana and Jatinder Bholu, continued its protest against the closure of the Coca-Cola factory, for the 16th day today. He said: “The factory has been opened by putting the future of Hoshiarpur and the state at stake. A large number of deep tube wells, installed at the factory, will exploit the underground water of the area within a few years.” added Rana. So, we would continue the stir until the factory closure of the factory or any other unit was installed in its place. A similar dharna had continued against the factory for 45 days and come to an abrupt end on April 1 when the protesters holding the dharna were arrested by the police.

Our Correspondent Hoshiarpur, September 18 Save Water Save Punjab Struggle Committee, with the support of an NGO ‘Safal Bharat Guru Parampra’, led by Veer Pratap Rana and Jatinder Bholu, continued its protest against the closure of the Coca-Cola factory, for the 16th day today. The dharna started on September 3. Addressing the protesters Rana raised the problem of falling water level in the area and alleged that the factory would add to the woes of the people of the area and it lead the area to face a desertlike situation. He said: “The factory has been opened by putting the future of Hoshiarpur and the state at stake. But we will not allow it happen at any cost. A large number of deep tube wells, installed at the factory, will exploit the underground water of the area within a few years.” added Rana. He said everybody know that wherever such factories were set up, the people suffered from water scarcity still the construction of such factories is going on. So, we would continue the stir until the factory closure of the factory or any other unit was installed in its place. A similar dharna had continued against the factory for 45 days and come to an abrupt end on April 1 when the protesters holding the dharna were arrested by the police.
