Cycle rally reaches city

Tribune News ServiceJalandhar, September 21The cycle rally from Leh to New Delhi as the part of Swachhta Pakhwara Pan India Cycle Expedition reached here on Saturday. The expedition reached here from Dasuya after covering the distance of 56-km to Jalandhar. A total of 15 boy cadets of 12 PB Bn NCC Hoshiarpur, along with an officer, handed over the baton of the rally to the cadets of 2 PB ( G) BN NCC Jalandhar and 1 PB Air squadron. The members of the expedition interacted with residents of the city. Young cadets remained the centre of attraction as they moved along the planned route from the centre of the city towards Ludhiana.

The expedition reached here from Dasuya after covering the distance of 56-km to Jalandhar. A total of 15 boy cadets of 12 PB Bn NCC Hoshiarpur, along with an officer, handed over the baton of the rally to the cadets of 2 PB ( G) BN NCC Jalandhar and 1 PB Air squadron. The members of the expedition interacted with residents of the city. A nukkad natak was organised during the baton exchange ceremony. Many cadets and volunteers gathered at KMV College holding the national flag. Young cadets remained the centre of attraction as they moved along the planned route from the centre of the city towards Ludhiana. 1 dead, 2 hurt in roof collapse Phagwara: Sonia Tiwari (30), a native of Uttar Pradesh, was died and her husband Barjesh Kumar (29) and 6-year-old son, Shobit Tiwari, sustained injuries as the roof of her rented house collapsed in Ward no 44 Bhagatpura locality here on Saturday. The victims were rushed to the Civil Hospital where Sonia was declared brought dead. The family was sleeping at the time of the incident. — OC
