500 take part in NCC camp at DAV varsity

Our CorrespondentJalandhar, October 20Over 500 cadets from various parts of the region participated in a 10-day NCC camp that began yesterday at DAV University here. The combined annual training camp (CATC) was organised under the leadership of Col Karan Pathania, Commanding Officer, 2 Punjab Battalion, NCC, Jalandhar. The NCC cadets participated in various activities, including basic training, weapon training, physical training, games, field craft, battle craft, social work, personality development, water conservation, drug addiction and firefighting. The NCC had deputed Col Ajat Nayyar, Sub Major Balwinder Singh, Sub Major, Training, JCO, Sub Avtar Singh, Naib Sub Amarjeet Singh, Gurjant Singh for conducting the camp. CO Col Karan Pathania said the NCC appreciated the goodwill gesture of the university for hosting and providing facilities for the camp.

The students of the university put up an impressive cultural event for the cadets as a parting goodwill gesture. University vice-chancellor Desh Bandhu Gupta also addressed the cadets. The cultural function was coordinated by Dr Jasbir Rishi, dean student welfare (DSW). The NCC had deputed Col Ajat Nayyar, Sub Major Balwinder Singh, Sub Major, Training, JCO, Sub Avtar Singh, Naib Sub Amarjeet Singh, Gurjant Singh for conducting the camp. CO Col Karan Pathania said the NCC appreciated the goodwill gesture of the university for hosting and providing facilities for the camp.
