‘Don’t give addtl charge of schools to heads’

But, the principals who are posted in city schools must be given additional charge of the schools, which are without regular heads, the DEOs told. The Education Department has taken cognisance of the fact that school principals in rural areas are given charges of three to four schools while principals in city schools are not given any additional charge. The Education Department has further asked the DEOs to equal charges of schools to principals posted in rural and urban areas. In the Shahkot-I block, there are three schools, which don’t have regular teachers.

But, the principals who are posted in city schools must be given additional charge of the schools, which are without regular heads, the DEOs told. The Education Department has taken cognisance of the fact that school principals in rural areas are given charges of three to four schools while principals in city schools are not given any additional charge. It has affected studies in rural area schools. The Education Department has further asked the DEOs to equal charges of schools to principals posted in rural and urban areas. Schools face shortage of regular teachers Government Middle School, Mehrajwala, is without a regular teacher. A teacher from surrounding schools comes here on deputation. There are 13 students in the school. The situation is similar in Kamaalpur where there are 28 students. The teachers are deputed on a monthly basis. In the Lohian block, there are 12 schools where there is no regular teacher. Other 10 schools each have a Education Guarantee Scheme (EGS) volunteer. As many as 27 schools in the Lohian block have a single teacher. Sources said due to a shortage of teachers in the entire block, it is difficult to spare and sent staff on deputation to these schools. Besides, teachers in the area cannot take leave easily as it becomes difficult to arrange staff for other schools in their absence. In the Shahkot-I block, there are three schools, which don’t have regular teachers.
