Two honoured for not burning paddy straw

Our CorrespondentHoshiarpur, November 15Various efforts are being made by the state government to motivate farmers involved in paddy farming not to burn stubble. Dr Raj Kumar, MLA, Chabbewal, shared this information with people while meeting residents and farmers of Pandori Ganga Singh village in his constituency. Farmers of the village sowed wheat on their 120 acres of fields without burning stubble. Dr Raj honoured farmers Manjinder Singh Banka and Captain Manohar Singh for not burning stubble. He said all farmers should do their bit in saving the environment by not burning stubble and increasing the fertility of earth.

Our Correspondent Hoshiarpur, November 15 Various efforts are being made by the state government to motivate farmers involved in paddy farming not to burn stubble. Earlier, 50 to 80 per cent subsidy was given on stubble-handling machines such as happy seeder, chopper and shredder. Now, the state government has announced a compensation of Rs 2,500 per acre to those small and marginal farmers who will not burn stubble. Dr Raj Kumar, MLA, Chabbewal, shared this information with people while meeting residents and farmers of Pandori Ganga Singh village in his constituency. Farmers of the village sowed wheat on their 120 acres of fields without burning stubble. Dr Raj honoured farmers Manjinder Singh Banka and Captain Manohar Singh for not burning stubble. He said all farmers should do their bit in saving the environment by not burning stubble and increasing the fertility of earth. During his visit to the village,the MLA also inspected roads being built in and around the village. He said roads from Pandori Ganga Singh to Wahid Road-Harijan Basti, Kangkor, Panjora and Girls College, Chela, were under construction with a cost of Rs 76.59 lakh. Dr Raj said he was happy that his constituency was progressing in all spheres, a lot of development works were going on and such thoughtful farmers were adding to the betterment of their village.
