Two projects set to evolve land revenue system: DC

During the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma today said that the online registration and demarcation of land by using electronic system introduced in Jalandhar as pilot project would transform the land revenue system in the district. The demarcation scheme, however, got launched today simultaneously in five cities of Punjab. The project — National Generic Document Registration System (NGDRS) — has been developed by the National Informatics Centre, which had teams working in Pune, Delhi and Jalandhar for the project. Five documents for land registration received online on Day 1 Jalandhar, November 17 After Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh digitally launched the online land registration system for the Adampur sub-tehsil, Deshwinder Kumar, a resident, became the first person in the state to get his property registered on web. The scheme was launched as a pilot project in Adampur and Moga today and the first registration was done for Adampur with a mouse click by the CM operating on the system from Chandigarh. After Jaswinder’s registration at around 3 pm, the sub-registrar here received five more documents for being processed online. The Punjab CM in the presence of his entire Cabinet, through video conferencing told the DC that these revolutionary steps were aimed at providing clean, transparent, effective and accountable land revenue system to people. Quoting the examples of Diwan Todar Mal and Sir Chotu Ram, the DC said both personalities were still fondly remembered for the efficient land record system, adding that with the introduction of these two pilot projects, effectiveness of land record system and the services provided to people would further enhance. On the occasion, Jalandhar Division Commissioner Raj Kamal Chaudhary and the DC also handed over the copy of the first online registration of the day to Dishwender Kumar and his family. The project — National Generic Document Registration System (NGDRS) — has been developed by the National Informatics Centre, which had teams working in Pune, Delhi and Jalandhar for the project. The software application was developed in a generic and configurable manner to address the requirements at various levels of registration department. This project would empower the resident to register themselves online into the system and enter registration details, online payment, valuation and prior appointment with sub-registrar to present the document for registration. A special provision for documents writers has also been provided. Care has been taken to carry out the same work with the sub-registrar office if at all the applicant can’t do online entry on his /her own.
