2016 illegal weapon case: Charges framed against Johal, seven others

BATHINDA: Moga additional district and sessions judge Charanjit Arora on Thursday framed charges against eight persons in the 2016 illegal weapons case. All seven were present in the court as they were brought from different jails.Charges were also framed against the eighth accused Trilok Singh alias Laddi, who is cousin of Jimmy Singh. Jimmy was also named as an accused in the same case and as he could not be arrested, Look Out Circular (LOC) was issued against him. A case was registered under the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act at Baghapurana police station.Police had then arrested Trilok Singh Laddi — cousin of Jimmy Singh, a resident of Gadhigarh, Jammu, in the case. He is out on bail but was also present in the court.Ninth accused in the case, Harminder Singh Mintoo, commander of Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) has died.Defence counsel in the case Jaspal Singh Manjhpur said, “Charges were framed against eight men in illegal weapon recovery case of Baghapurana.

The Moga police last year had cracked the case registered at Baghapurana police station of Moga district by making several arrests in targeted killings of Shiv Sena, RSS leaders and a pastor of Ludhiana church.Charges were framed against Jimmy Singh, Jagtar Singh (Jaggi) Johal, Jagjit Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Hardeep alias Shera, gangster Dharmendra Singh Guggni, and gangster Guggni’s manager Anil Kala on Thursday. All seven were present in the court as they were brought from different jails.Charges were also framed against the eighth accused Trilok Singh alias Laddi, who is cousin of Jimmy Singh. Charges have been framed under Section 120-B (criminal conspiracy), sections 17, 18, 19 and 20 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Section 25 of the Arms Act”.Moga police had in December 2016 recovered a 9 mm pistol, two live cartridges from Budh Singh Wala village. A case was registered under the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act at Baghapurana police station.Police had then arrested Trilok Singh Laddi — cousin of Jimmy Singh, a resident of Gadhigarh, Jammu, in the case. Jimmy was also named as an accused in the same case and as he could not be arrested, Look Out Circular (LOC) was issued against him.
