Students from valley visit Panjab University

CHANDIGARH: A group of 12 undergraduate students, along with their two faculty members, from Government College, Nowshera of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir visited Panjab University here on Tuesday. This interaction was followed by a visit to the university library and Gandhi Bhavan. The visiting group held an interaction with the dean of university instructions and officiating vice-chancellor Shankarji Jha.They also met Prof Devinder Singh, secretary to the vice-chancellor, and faculty members from various departments of the university.

Jaskaran Singh Waraich, chairperson, department of defence and national security studies said that their visit was part of the Deshattan 2019 tours being organized by the Rashtriya Rifles of the Army under Operation Sadbhavana, also known as Operation Goodwill.Operation Sadhavana is a military-civic action programme launched by the Army in Jammu and Kashmir with the aim of "winning the hearts and minds" of the people in the region. The students also visited their department for an informal interaction with the faculty, research scholars and students of the department. This interaction was followed by a visit to the university library and Gandhi Bhavan. The lunch for the visiting group was organised by the university administration at boys hostel number 2.
