Reduction in stone-pelting and separatist violence in new Jammu and Kashmir, freshly battered by government whips on terrorist funding

Incidents of stone pelting and separatist violence have declined in the new Jammu and Kashmir state since August 5 last year. Officials said on Monday that a comparative analysis of data collected by various sources suggests that the actions taken by the government have stopped terrorist funding. The separatists who used to call for inciting violence by the youth have cooled down since the seizure of bank accounts and assets.

The separatists who used to call for inciting violence by the youth have cooled down since the seizure of bank accounts and assets. 

Hardly any bandh has been called by separatist leaders during the last one year. His supporters have been inactive since the government arrested key leaders of the largely separatist groups. The government arrested Yasin Malik in the murder of security personnel and Dr. Rubia Saeed case. While Shabbir Shah of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party was arrested in 2007 in a money laundering case.

Arrests were also made,
eight Hurriyat leaders were detained in 2018, 70 in 2019 and six in 2020. While 29 activists of the banned Jamaat-e-Islami were detained in 2019 and eight in 2020.
