JK: Anniversary of Article 370 removal, Amit Shah said - a year of development

Article 370 giving special status to Jammu and Kashmir was removed on this day. On 5 August 2019, Home Minister Amit Shah introduced a resolution to remove Article 370 in Parliament. Today, one year has been completed to remove Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. The Ministry of Home Affairs has described this one year as a year of development.

The Home Ministry has enumerated one year`s achievements. On behalf of the Ministry of Home Affairs, it has been said that the law of residence implemented protects the interests of local citizens of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory. Resident certificates are being made in view of basic qualifications for government recruitments.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has stated that all PRC holders are automatically eligible for the residence certificate. The Home Ministry spokesman has said that panchayat elections were held after years. These elections were conducted fairly and peacefully. Despite all the calls for boycott and terrorist threats, these elections saw 74.1 percent turnout. This is a victory for democracy.

Apart from this, the Home Ministry has also discussed Ladakh. The Ministry of Home Affairs has said that the focus was on agriculture and horticulture in Ladakh. For this, the Mission Organic Development Initiative (MODI) was started. 500 crore has been approved for this. A target has been set to convert Ladakh into an organic area by the year 2025.

Significantly, curfew has been imposed in Srinagar on completion of one year of the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. Please tell that even before Article 370 was removed, many leaders including Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti were put under house arrest. Mobile, telephone and Internet services were banned in Jammu and Kashmir.
