The main event in Jammu will be held at the Mini Stadium Parade, which has been sealed under security arrangements.
The Union Territory Administration has decided to allow only a few hundred people to attend the ceremony due to increase in Corona virus cases. Special attention is being paid to the investigation of vehicles and special investigation is being done on Jammu-Pathankot and Jammu-Srinagar National Highways. The police have also created a mobile app to keep a record of all truck drivers and their assistants to prevent the entry of terrorists and smuggling of weapons. Border security has also been tightened and all border roads are being closely monitored. Police and Central Armed Police Forces have been deployed and tasked with 24-hour patrolling and intensive investigation.
Jammu Senior Superintendent of Police Sridhar Patil said that adequate security arrangements have been made to ensure peace on Independence Day. He said that special arrangements have been made around the main venue and cooperation has been sought from the people to maintain peace. Mandalayat Jammu Sanjeev Verma reviewed the arrangements for the Independence Day celebrations with the concerned Deputy Commissioners. The event will not include cultural events. In view of the corona virus, the number of participants in the march past will also be reduced. Corona warriors will be honored during the ceremony.
