NSUI demands online exams for JU engineering students

Excelsior CorrespondentJAMMU May 4: NSUI unit of GCET has claimed that University of Jammu (JU) engineering students are in same semesters for more than eight months while semester in an engineering course lasts for six months. He claimed that this may delay their completion of degree which will deprive them from applying for different jobs in time. The NSUI leader said in January this year all engineering students protested for their exams through online mode as it was needed at that time and the demand was also accepted but the administration failed to conduct those exams till now of regular (all odd semesters) and backlog (1st & 3rd semester) students through online mode. “As COVID is at its peak the situation can't become normal in at least next one month. So as our semester has already crossed deadline we cannot wait anymore as the same will only delay our degree” he claimed demanding examination through online mode as soon as possible.

In a handout NSUI president of GCET Ankush Kumar said this issue has become a matter of concern for JU engineering students because all other universities in J&K (NIT SMVDU BGSBU MIET) or in India (IITs) are going to finish even their summer session whereas “JU administration has not even taken our exams of winter session.” “We had even written to dean of engineering (in JU) VC JU and Higher Education Department (Sushma Chauhan) of J&K UT for the same but didnt receive any response in favour of students” Kumar maintained. He claimed that this may delay their completion of degree which will deprive them from applying for different jobs in time.
