National Bone Joint Day Week celebrated by JKOA GMC Kathua

Excelsior CorrespondentKATHUA Aug 4: National Bone and Joint Day was celebrated today with great enthusiasm by Jammu and Kashmir Orthopaedic Association (JKOA) and Government Medical College (GMC) Kathua. To celebrate the Day JKOA started providing online training regarding proper first aid/basic life support to around one lakh people including students police personnel and common men to make them life saviours. He also stressed to remove the fear of helping the patients and to remove the fear of police enquiries among general public and children in particular. The programme was inaugurated by Dr Anjali Nadir Bhat Principal GMC Kathua. Others speakers included Dr Vivek Sharma (Assistant Professor) and Senior Residents Dr Bishan Singh Dr Gagandeep Singh and Dr Amit Kumar.

Excelsior Correspondent KATHUA Aug 4: National Bone and Joint Day was celebrated today with great enthusiasm by Jammu and Kashmir Orthopaedic Association (JKOA) and Government Medical College (GMC) Kathua. To celebrate the Day JKOA started providing online training regarding proper first aid/basic life support to around one lakh people including students police personnel and common men to make them life saviours. Rajesh K Gupta president JKOA said that this year the theme of the celebration is Save self Save One as the focus is on deaths occurring deaths due to trauma and accidents in India. Gupta said the training programme were started on August 1 and will last till August 7. He said alongside training these one lakh people will be educated about how to keep the bones healthy and strong. Apart from this he said many other activities like talks on work life balance life beyond professional life financial health and self-health would be conducted by the members of Indian Orthpoaedic Association and JKOA during the week. To celebrate the Day scores of activities viz. online teaching and training on first aid/basic life support to children of class 9th and above (DPS Kathua) and general public virtual health education lectures distribution of pamphlets and educational charts were organized at GMC Kathua by Department of Orthopaedics of the Hospital in collaboration with JKOA. On this occasion Dr Rishabh Gupta HoD Ortho and organizing secretary of JKOA stressed upon making children and general public aware about roadside golden hour management of trauma patients. He also stressed to remove the fear of helping the patients and to remove the fear of police enquiries among general public and children in particular. He also gave various tips for prevention of bone disorders like maintaining ideal weight regular weight bearing exercise healthy diet with adequate intake of calcium and Vitamin D improving muscle strength etc. The programme was inaugurated by Dr Anjali Nadir Bhat Principal GMC Kathua. The function was also attended by Dr Chitra Vaishnavi Medical Superintendent who provided logistic support and Dr Deepak Abrol Radiation Oncologist. Others speakers included Dr Vivek Sharma (Assistant Professor) and Senior Residents Dr Bishan Singh Dr Gagandeep Singh and Dr Amit Kumar.
