Ruckus at college over assault of girl student by unidentified youths

JAMSHEDPUR: Jamshedpur Workers College (JWC) students on Friday protested and agitated for over three hours after an incident of alleged harassment and assault of a girl student by unidentified youths. When the girl protested, the trio made a bid to shout her down but on noticing the gusty response of the girl the trio assaulted her. Other students rushed to her aide then and the three youths ran away from the classroom. "The footage of the CCTV has been retrieved for scientific examination to ascertain the identity of the persons accused," said officer in-charge of Mango police station A K Mahatta. The protesting students locked up the entry gate and stopping the entry and exit of the college staff including faculties only to be mollified following the arrival of police.A police officer said a second year commerce intermediate girl student was sitting with her class fellows in her classroom when three unidentified youths entered the room and tried to draw her attention by making lewd gestures.
