Steel City dose to counter dengue

Stressing lack of awareness is one of the reasons for the spread of dengue, the DC said that 2.5 lakh mosquito nets have been distributed in the district. "In the urban circle, teams will visit residential apartments and colonies and demonstrate to the denizens what they should practice to keep dengue out," the DC said in his address to the delegates at the health workshop which was organised to mark National Dengue Day on Wednesday. "In the rural areas, Gram Swasth Karmi will be mobilised to join the awareness campaign aimed to educate the villagers on the do's and dont's so that they do not fall victims to dengue," the DC said.The top official of the district further said that health department has been specifically asked to take the help of the corporate agencies, if required, in cleaning the clogged drains and removing garbage. JAMSHEDPUR: The district administration has announced early action plans in order to curb dengue cases this year .Ahead of the monsoon season, joint teams of health, education and public relations department will be working at different levels across all 11 blocks of the district with an aim to spread awareness about the disease and will also draw up plans to counter it.Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar said, this year multiple teams involving doctors, health volunteers, school and college students as well as public representatives and officials from departments concerned will reach out to people, both in the urban areas and in the rural hinterland.
