Car wash services suspended in Adityapur to help save water

JAMSHEDPUR: The Adityapur Municipal Corporation ( AMC ) on Monday asked all of the auto-mobile service centres across the area to suspend vehicles' washing services for the time being.With an aim to save water , the municipal body has warned all the centre owners to abide by the orders else action will be taken against them. ""Around 50 litres of water is used while washing (pressure wash) one car at a washing centre and everyday nearly 30 cars are washed at the mechanised centres," said Pramod Mahato, a worker at an Adityapur auto-mobile service centre, said.He added that a bucket wash consumes relatively a lot of less water but vehicle owners prefer a pressure wash.An employee of a leading car showroom in Bistupur said the service package includes a car wash and customers rarely agrees for a dry wash.Notably, with the depletion of the groundwater level, the drinking water and sanitation department is experiencing trouble in supplying adequate tap water to households in several parts of Adityapur.
