Two state government officials, extension officer Nirmal Bhagat and head clerk Arjun Gope, were arrested from Chaibasa fisheries department for accepting bribe of Rs 4,000 from an applicant in lieu of renewing a commercial license. Jamshedpur 's DSP (ACB) Amar Kumar Pandey said, "Complainants are approaching the ACB relatively frequently but it's yet to reach a desired level."Discussions on cancer over 'chai': 'Chai for cancer' - an awareness and fund raising campaign directed at supporting patients who are combating cancer was inaugurated in the city on Saturday. Viji Vishwanath, one of the organisers, said, "We provide counselling, emotional support and medication to patients who cannot afford it. We have been taking care of around 20,000 patients across the country who are being treated at the best hospitals, including AIIMS, Delhi."Income boost for farmers through mango cultivation: Several hundred farmers from 15 districts of the state came together for the first state-level 'Mango Festival' organised by National Bank For Agriculture & Rural Development (NABARD) state office on Saturday. It showcased the success stories of farmers who have taken up mango cultivation to add to their income. A variety of mangoes, including Amrapali , Malda, Mallika and Dasahari were showcased at the event.Sikh regiment inducts 530 recruits: The Sikh Regimental Centre (SRC) in Ramgarh, one of the Army's oldest regiments, on Saturday inducted 530 newly trained recruits after a passing-out parade held at the Harbaksh Singh drill square. The recruits took oath to serve the nation in a ceremony performed by Sikh priests of the regiment. Several officers, junior commanding officers (JCO), their families and schoolchildren take part in the impressive march pass conducted for the event.
