Railways issues NOC for laying pipelines on its land

"Of the total 23 slums that shall benefit for the drinking water project 13 are located on the railway land.
"After years of giving representations and organizing dharnas at different forums, the news about the railways giving the NOC for the project is great," said Bagbera resident, Subodh Jha, a socio-political activist.
"He added, "Now that we have received the NOC, the ground work will commence soon as we have finished with the survey work and have also mobilised adequate resources for the same.
JAMSHEDPUR: The South Eastern Railway issued a No Objection Certificate ( NOC ) to the Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED) for laying the pipeline on its 23km land which will supply tap water to Govindpur-Bagbera area in the outskirts of the Steel City, as part of the Rs 237 crore drinking water project of the state government.The Neer Nirmal Pariyojna of the state government which aims at providing drinking water through pipeline to over one lakh population in the 23 slums located in the Govindpur-Bagbera area received the NOC on Friday.In its letter addressed to deputy commissioner Amit Kumar, SER has stated in the NOC that it will not give any ownership right to the unauthorized occupants of railway land and nor it will disturb railway right over the land.An executive engineer of the PHED, under the condition of anonymity, said, "The lone hurdle for the commencement of the project was the railway's rigidity on NOC.
