JRD Tata remembered on his 114th birth anniversary

Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) organised a fun filled adventure game, called Adventure Quest, at Jubilee Park while the sports department of Tata Steel organised athletic meet and singing competition for school students. JRD Tata introduced aviation in the country in 1932 with the launch of Tata Airlines (which became Air India in 1946). JAMSHEDPUR: The Steel City on Sunday celebrated the 114th birth anniversary of iconic industrialist and aviator Jehangir Ratanji Dadabhoy Tata. Organised as a mark of tribute to JRD Tata and his passion for flying, the event was well received by the visitors who came to know about his role in the promotion of the aviation sector in the country. Both the events saw a huge turnout.The officials at the Sonari aerodrome said clear weather and Sunday helped boost participation of people at the event.

JAMSHEDPUR: The Steel City on Sunday celebrated the 114th birth anniversary of iconic industrialist and aviator Jehangir Ratanji Dadabhoy Tata. A series of activities marked the day to pay tribute to the iconic leader who is credited for playing a pivotal role in the formation of Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Tata Memorial Cancer Research Centre and Hospital, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, National Centre for Performing Arts and the National Institute of Advanced Studies.The highlight of the anniversary was the aero-modeling show and static display of the aircraft at the Sonari aerodrome that witnessed large turnout of youths and people interested in the aviation history. Organised as a mark of tribute to JRD Tata and his passion for flying, the event was well received by the visitors who came to know about his role in the promotion of the aviation sector in the country. JRD Tata introduced aviation in the country in 1932 with the launch of Tata Airlines (which became Air India in 1946)."It was fascinating to know that JRD was the first licenced pilot of the country and that he played a prominent role in the growth of commercial aviiation industry," 19-year-old college student Bhishnu Kar, who came to witness the aero-modeling show, said.
