JAMSHEDPUR: Residents of Jamshedpur, who are living in areas under the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC), are turning up in large numbers to 'Muhalla Chaupals' for instant redressal of their grievances related to civic issues.So far, four 'chaupals' camps were organized in various wards of the urban municipal body since July 25 and all of them had huge response from from local residents wherein matters relating to cleaning of drainage, removal of garbage mounds, repairing of colony streets, equipping streetlights, removing encroachments and issues relating to PDS ration cards among other have been effectively taken up. "Interestingly, matters related to social security and livelihood schemes besides queries pertaining to trade licenses have also been taken up successfully at the chaupals so far," said JNAC special officer Sanjay Kumar.The chaupals will now be organized every day in each of the 16 wards of the notified area till August 12, Kumar said, highlighting that the entire team of the notified committee, including city managers and revenue officials, are attending the camps so that issues relating to all departments concerning JNAC could be addressed. "It is also an exercise to integrate the people with the system, take the beneficiaries on board and enlighten them how the civic body functions in addressing issues related to public welfare," he added.Basti Vikas Samiti functionary Khemlal Chaudhary, who attended the chaupal held at Raghubarnagar in Burma mines on July 29, praised district administration for the unique move aimed at bridging the gap between the beneficiaries and the administrative agencies.Noticing the overwhelming response to the chaupal, DC Amit Kumar has instructed the urban municipal body to organize the camps without breaks.
