Humidity touches 90%-mark in Ranchi

The humidity levels in Ranchi was recorded at 90% on Thursday while that of Jamshedpur and Daltonganj were 87% and 93%. Jamshedpur recorded 36°C and Daltonganj recorded 34° C, the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) Ranchi observatory said in the evening.Meanwhile, the high humidity levels in Ranchi were a cause of discomfort for its denizens. Monsoon showers have been replaced with high humidity and mercury levels have been gradually rising. "Some districts of Jharkhand are likely to experience light to moderate rain in the next 72 hours," senior weather scientist at IMD, Ranchi, R S Sharma said. Daytime temperature in Ranchi rose by almost two notches to cross the 33°Celsius mark. Jamshedpur recorded 36°C and Daltonganj recorded 34° C, the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) Ranchi observatory said in the evening.Meanwhile, the high humidity levels in Ranchi were a cause of discomfort for its denizens. Vivek Singh, a student, fainted on the Mahatma Gandhi road due to dehydration in the afternoon.The IMD, however, sounded optimistic about rain and lowering of temperatures in the next three days. "Some districts of Jharkhand are likely to experience light to moderate rain in the next 72 hours," senior weather scientist at IMD, Ranchi, R S Sharma said. Sharma said the rainy spell would be a short one and dry conditions would prevail again from October 1.Till date, the state has recorded 27% less rain than its normal average at this time of the year.
