Marwari outfit to build canteen at MGM hospital

"We will be meeting with the CM soon and have detailed a discussion on the matter pertaining to MGM hospital," Bhalotia said.The head of the Marwari Mahila Manch Prabha Padia said the women's wing of the outfit is also keen to work for the development of the government hospital. JAMSHEDPUR: Chief minister Raghubar Das made an appeal to the marwari community to come forward and share the responsibility of helping improve the the government-run Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital (MGMMCH).The outfit Marwari Samelan has contributed Rs 5 lakh to the hospital to build a canteen and it has also agreed to invest more funds for other infrastructural-related projects at the healthcare centre. "We have sought land in the hospital complex for constructing the canteen and the CM has also assured of help," said the functionary of the outfit, Ashok Bhalotia, who contributed the donation.He added that the outfit is keen to work in partnership with the state government on improving the overall condition of the hospital and the beginning has been made with the move to build the canteen for the visitors. "We need to know in what manner we can support or contribute for improving the condition of MGM," Padia said.While addressing the Agrasen Jayanti programme at Michael John auditorium, Das praised the outfit for doing various philanthropic activities for the society.When approached, a senior official at MGMMCH said on anonymity that funds support for canteen or any other project is a policy matter of the government.Notably, the healthcare centre is plugged with issues relating to shortage of beds and medicine, among other shortcomings.
