JAMSHEDPUR: The Steel City police arrested an eight-member gang of criminals on Monday when they were planning to stage a rob in Bagbera and Jamshedpur Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by deputy superintendent of police (law and order) was constituted to investigate and accordingly, the team raided the wireless ground in Bagbera and nabbed all the eight criminals.During interrogation, the gang members admitted that they were planning to stage a robbery in Bagbera and other areas near it s well."Some of them have been to the jail more than once for incidents in the past," said SSP Anup Birthare. He added, "They also admitted that they were involved in the robbery of valuable consumer items worth in lakhs from Bhavani Sales Store in August this year."All the eight criminals, in the age group between 22 to 38, have been involved in the past robbery and loot incidents in Sonari, Pursudih, Birsanagar, Govindpur, Bagbera police station areas in the last two years.The police also seized two country-made pistols, two live bullets, one sharp knife, four mobile phones, cash Rs 21,000, among other items, from them.The criminals have been identified as Abhishek Kumar Singh, Amit Kumar , Jeetedra Kumar, George Raju, Raju Prasad, Rakesh Bhadur Singh, Roshan Singh and Shambhu Singh."Further interrogation of the criminals will bring to light more details about the past robbery and dacoit incidents that have taken place in different parts of the city in the last few months," Birthare said.
