NIFFT techies qualify for Chennai eco-marathon

"The eco-marathon is one of the prestigious platforms for engineering students to showcase their innovation and skills in automation. We have been taking part in the contest for the past few years. JAMSHEDPUR: A 25-member team from National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology (NIFFT Ranchi), called Team Thrusters, qualified for the eco-marathon challenger to be held in Chennai between December 6 and December 9.Participating under the electric vehicles category, the team will display a prototype of a chain and sprocket drive that is powered by a Brushless DC (BLDC) electric motor and has an inbuilt capacity to give mileage of 150km/kWh.The students of NIFFT will compete teams from across the country in designing, building, testing and driving energy-efficient vehicles.After overcoming hardships like insufficient funds, lack of mentor and guidance and technical support, the team managed to qualify the first round and hopes to be among the top teams in the prestigious Challenger India 2018.
