Move to oust Dhanbad zila parishad chairman

DHANBAD: Members of the Dhanbad Zila Parishad on Tuesday moved a no confidence motion against the parishad chairman, Robin Gorain, citing his “non-interest” in developmental work in rural areas and for not conducting regular meetings of the parishad. Speaking to TOI from Jamshedpur , he said: “It is a conspiracy of Nirsa MLA Arup Chatterjee and zila parishad members Durga Das and Ashok Singh. Of the 47 parishad members, 27 of them signed no confidence motion and submitted it to chief executive officer Shashi Ranjan at the DRDA conference hall. Ranjan said the motion would be forwarded to the deputy commissioner (DC) to take call on the next course of action. I have sufficient numbers to prove confidence and I don’t bother about these kind of conspiracies.” tnn

Of the 47 parishad members, 27 of them signed no confidence motion and submitted it to chief executive officer Shashi Ranjan at the DRDA conference hall. Ranjan said the motion would be forwarded to the deputy commissioner (DC) to take call on the next course of action. If the DC decides to introduce the motion in the parishad, it has to get support of 75% of the votes to remove Gorain.Meanwhile, Gorain rubbishes the allegations against him. Speaking to TOI from Jamshedpur , he said: “It is a conspiracy of Nirsa MLA Arup Chatterjee and zila parishad members Durga Das and Ashok Singh. Durga demanded a Mahindra Bolero vehicle from me but I was incapable to fulfil her request after which she started foul-mouthing against me. I have sufficient numbers to prove confidence and I don’t bother about these kind of conspiracies.” tnn
