Joint operations with Bengal cops in East Singhbhum

Incidentally, amid reports of Maoists fresh bid to regain foothold in the Kolhan top police officials of West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand held a joint meeting here on January 21to decide on the future road map to fight the Maoists. The lodges and hotels situated on the National Highway (NH 33), in particular, are being inspected by the police.The police in the urban area too has been asked to be watchful to ensure incident free Republic Day on Saturday. JAMSHEDPUR: East Singbhum police on Friday initiated a joint operation with their counterparts from West Bengal to prevent CPI (Maoists) movement in the suspected areas ahead of Republic Day Led by additional superintendent of police (operation) Pranav Anand Jha, the teams are conducting a search operation in the forest cover across Patamda, Bodam, Galudih and Ghatshila, police said.Jha said, “As pre cautionary measures the joint exercise with West Bengal police is underway ahead of Republic Day. Patrolling parties have been instructed to take precaution while moving in the remote areas.Besides, security personnel in plain clothes have been deployed at the railway stations and bus terminals to keep eye on the movement of the suspected people. The operations will continue till January 27 and depending on what we find, we will take a call on extending it.” The state Intelligence Bureau (IB) has alerted the district police on apprehension of Maoists bid to disrupt Republic Day events in the interiors of the district that are closer to West Bengal.All police stations in the Ghatshila sub-division have been asked to be vigilant and carry out extensive patrolling in the suspected areas hosting government institutions such as school, college and administrative buildings.
