RANCHI/JAMSHEDPUR: State BJP chief Laxman Gilua on Monday said the Balakot air strike has improved his party’s prospects in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election. He said, “I’m in Godda and I have not got a chance to listen to what our state party chief has said. Do we need any more indication to believe that BJP can go to any extent to win elections!” he remarked. But our party’s stand is clear that no one should try to gain political mileage out of the Pulwama attack or IAF’s retaliation.”The main opposition, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, described BJP’s motives as “dangerous”. Now, ahead of the parliamentary elections, Pulwama faced a terror strike.

RANCHI/JAMSHEDPUR: State BJP chief Laxman Gilua on Monday said the Balakot air strike has improved his party’s prospects in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election. This comes days after former Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa left BJP red-faced by claiming that the saffron party would win 22 seats in the southern state because of the IAF operation.“The doubts about BJP’s return to power are no longer there and we are going to win all 14 parliamentary seats in the state,” Gilua said while referring to the IAF action in Pakistan.Speaking to the media on the sidelines of an event organised by the South Eastern Railway in Jamshedpur, Gilua remarked, “The retaliatory action by our forces to avenge Pulwama under the leadership of the Prime Minister has reaffirmed Narendra Modi’s resolve to fight terrorism and at the same time earned him the affection of the people of India. This will reflect in the election results.”Gilua said, “Opposition parties had to face people’s wrath when they questioned the government on surgical strikes carried out by our armed forces following the terror attack in Uri in 2016 .” He added, “They are again demanding an account of the Balakot air strike, surely they will meet the disappointing fate once more.”BJP state general secretary Deepak Prakash tried to distance himself and the party from Gilua’s statement. He said, “I’m in Godda and I have not got a chance to listen to what our state party chief has said. But our party’s stand is clear that no one should try to gain political mileage out of the Pulwama attack or IAF’s retaliation.”The main opposition, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, described BJP’s motives as “dangerous”. Its central general secretary, Supriyo Bhattacharya, said, “We always knew that BJP can stoop to any level for winning elections and now the truth is coming out from within the party.“The Uri attack happened just before the UP polls, and Pathankot took place prior to the elections in Bihar. Now, ahead of the parliamentary elections, Pulwama faced a terror strike. Do we need any more indication to believe that BJP can go to any extent to win elections!” he remarked.
