JNAC tops Jharkhand list in Swachh Bharat survey

JAMSHEDPUR: The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) bagged the 15th place in the country and the top spot within the state in the Swachh Bharat Mission survey this year. "I am immensely thankful to the chief minister, Raghubar Das , who constantly motivated us to work hard," Kumar said. "Both Kumar and Mishra assured that their respective organisations will continue to work in tandem to further improve the ranking of Jamshedpur. Last year, JNAC ranked 30 at the national level.Krishna Kumar, special officer of JNAC, said, at a press conference on Wednesday, "The door-to-door collection of garbage in residential areas and cleaning public places on a timely basis helped improve our rankings." About 25% of old toilets were also refurbished and half-a-dozen flying squads were pressed into action to monitor the cleanliness drive.

The municipal body scored 3805 marks out of 5000. Last year, JNAC ranked 30 at the national level.Krishna Kumar, special officer of JNAC, said, at a press conference on Wednesday, "The door-to-door collection of garbage in residential areas and cleaning public places on a timely basis helped improve our rankings." About 25% of old toilets were also refurbished and half-a-dozen flying squads were pressed into action to monitor the cleanliness drive. Garbage was collected directly from almost 1,21,000 houses.The special officer told the media that digital monitoring by authorities and citizens' enthusiasm in downloading the swachhata app played a crucial role in making the city cleaner. "Complaints by citizens relating to garbage collection were promptly addressed," Kumar added.The official also commended Jusco , a private enterprise that oversees municipal work in the command area of Tata Steel, for its contribution in keeping the city clean.Dhananjay Mishra, senior general manager of Jusco, said, "We informed denizens about the advantages of having a clean city and how they could contribute to the cause. We also gave workers modern equipment to clean the city."Both Kumar and Mishra assured that their respective organisations will continue to work in tandem to further improve the ranking of Jamshedpur."I am immensely thankful to the chief minister, Raghubar Das , who constantly motivated us to work hard," Kumar said.
