E Singhbhum administration cracks poll code whip

From Monday onwards, all political parties must seek the consent of the district administration before putting up banners and hoardings at public places. In the case of private buildings, the consent of the property owner has to be taken.Polling to the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha seat will be held on May 12, the notification for which will be issued on April 16. “If political parties fail to remove the materials then they will face action under Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act,” said the DC to the representatives at the meeting.Following this, members of different political parties were seen removing cut-outs and posters of their respective party leaders, party flags and banners from different parts in the district. JAMSHEDPUR: With the model code of conduct coming into force, the district administration, along with the local police, removed promotional hoardings of various state and central government schemes bearing the pictures of the chief minister and prime minister from Bistupur , Sakchi and other thoroughfares here.DC Amit Kumar also met with the representatives of recognized political parties on Monday and asked them to remove party flags, banners, hoardings and welcome gates within 72 hours or face action.
